Pinpoint Mobile Asset Management Newsletter – January 2010
Thieves Foiled by Technology
Happy New Year and welcome back after a well deserved break. The Pinpoint Team wishes you and your business a successful 2010.
In this edition of the Pinpoint Mobile Asset Management Newsletter we are focusing on GPS in plant and equipment.
As so often happens in the holiday season business assets are often targeted by thieves and vandals. This holiday season three of Pinpoints customers were victims of theft; Two skid steers, one in Victoria and the other in Byron Bay; and an air compressor in Sydney. Fortunately the equipment had been fitted with a Pinpoint GPS tracking device and they were quickly located, Police were notified and the assets subsequently recovered.
Apart from the obvious benefit of recovering a stolen asset and putting the heat on thieves targeting plant and equipment these three customers explain the savings they made as a result of installing Pinpoint GPS device.
Reduce your Excess Payments
(The air compressor) It is worth about $27,000 and even with insurance I would still be out of pocked by $5000

Increase Productivity of your assets
We use the Pinpoint system to keep an eye on asset utilisation. I am happy to say that Byron Bay Police executed a search warrant on the location at which our skid steer was last detected by your system and they found our skid steer along with several other stolen pieces of earthmoving equipment.
This has again highlighted the benefits of the system to our company and I can assure you we will continue to fit the Pinpoint tracking system to our equipment.

Delivering on customer commitments
The theft of my truck and skid steer would have meant letting down a customer and possibly losing the business, the Pinpoint GPS device helped the Police track down and recover the stolen gear within a few hours of it being stolen. My business keeps on ticking thanks to the Pinpoint GPS.
Darcy Boland, Civil Contractor
The cost of installing a GPS tracking device can be repaid many times over with the recovery of one stolen asset, the additional benefit of monitoring asset utilisation, productivity, customer service and monitoring real time engine hours or odometer provide a solid business case for the investment in GPS.
